evade Japanese salvos.


USS Kitkun Bay continues to lay smoke as Gambier Bay
is seen in the background.



As unknown ship continues to lay smoke, Gambier Bay is seen in the
distance listing to the side after taking several hits.




The Gambier Bay takes a water line hit as it sits dead in the water.
(Note smoke going straight up.)
C.O. gives order to abandon ship. Minutes later the Gambier Bay was gone.
